Hi David

Many thanks for what you have done.

It's a bit odd but on the CFHS site is the family below:-

Webb Henry 26 Whittlesey HO107/82/3 18B
Webb Sarah 27 ditto
Webb Jane 6 ditto
Webb John 4 ditto
Webb Henry ditto

Other than the fathers name, this seems like the correct family in 1841, can you help??

Thanks again,

Hi Ad

The only additional information provided on the census is that the family was at Crab End Whittlesey,  Henry was a slater, and none of them were born in Cambs.

It's certainly a coincidence that the first 3 children have the same names and roughly the right ages, and the occupations , bricklayer and slater, are in the same industry, but the birthplaces of Henry and the children are wrong. But the 4th child  was born in Whittlesey according to the 1851, so possibly the family moved there at some time between the birth of Henry and the 1841 census.

There is a Jane, dau of Henry E Webb and Sarah, baptised in 1836 at Balsham. The 1851 is for Edward H Webb.  Is this the same Henry (Edward) and Edward (Henry)? Possibly his first and middle names were reversible!  My initial reaction was (very) negative, but I'm now of the view that it may well be the same family - but more work needs doing to eliminate any possibility of there being two families - and a quick look on the Cambs FHS baptism index doesn't show any evidence of there being two Janes, Johns and Henrys.

Good luck!

Regards

David
