St. Asaph Parish
« on: Monday 29 November 04 19:47 GMT (UK) »
I have just purchased the parish records for St. Asaph (pre. 1812) and I am in the process of trying to track my ancestors.

I have grouped the marriages, births and deaths into possible time slots, keeping an eye on township changes. Can anyone recommend a proper way to go about eliminating the possible combinations that can occur?

Is there an easier way than this?  Any suggestions would be most welcome

St Asaph is one of the oldest parishes in North Wales. I would expect that the records would include parishes outside St Asaph, which today do have their own Churches
Eg. The township of Cefn Meriadog would be included in St. Asaph in 1812. Their church was not built until 1870ish.
Your other problem is that the workforce are labourers or farm labourers and move about  depending on the work. From my experience all the Janes, Sarahs and Elizabeths seem to marry all the Johns, Roberts and Williams.
Establish the boundary you want to work on
Establish the names of residences from BMD certs
Don't forget the chapels! Good luck.
Hill in Tavistock, Twose and Coles in Halberton, Flower in Havant and Wells.
Negus in Polebrook  Jones in Kingswinford, Phillips in Chirk, Dodd in Cheshire

Eldon,

Thanks for replying to my query.

I have managed to get some order in the name of my ancestors, but  you can only go so far with any certainty.
