Young William and Emmy again

Remember the beautiful young man in the hat, and his lovely wife Emmy? Here they are again, in some hideous back yard, and it seems they have taken turns with the camera. Emmy has moved in and gotten a fair closeup, but William kept his distance...maybe he was afraid of the dogs It also seems it took Emmy so long to get the dogs together in the same place that the sun has moved around a couple of hours

I'd appreciate any bit of tidying anyone can do with these!

Odd how the two pics have such a different tone, isn't it...and not from the strange lighting effect...just the "feel" that the second one is, as you put it very well, "hard times".

Just wondering if anybody knows what makes the kind of pebbledashed effect on Emmy's pic? It looks very much like tiny gouges, complete with light and shadow in the larger ones, but the surface of the photo is actually smooth.
