You have given me such a great start. I have found out that the Notts and Derbyshire have a website so I am going to contact them to see if they can be of any help.

I now have a copy of Victor's marriage certificate (1953) and he gives his address as C Line, Pirbright Camp. He cannot have been there for long because on his death certificate a few years later his occupation is given as painter and decorator.
