Hi Luc,

They also had another son later - THOMAS SMITH born 17 FEB 1872 Dundee, Angus, Scotland.

I think if you look at the 1881 census you will maybe find they had a lot more children too.

Seems to be Jane and Thomas in 1881:

Residence: 4 Wolseley Street, Dundee
James Thomson, head, mar, 35, m, operative bleacher jute, Brechin
Isabella, wife, mar, 22, f, -, Edinburgh
Jessie Burness, dau, unm, 4, f, -, Mains, Forfar
Marg't Stewart, dau, unm, 1, f, -, Mains, Forfar
Jane Smith, lodger, mar, 32, f, yarn bundler jute, Urie, Aberdeen
Thomas Smith, lodger, unm, 9, m, -, Dundee

Elizabeth Webster, lodger, unm, 15, f, yarn bundler jute, New Deer, Aberdeen

But I can't find John or Thomas Snr anywhere.
