Lost at Sea
« on: Monday 09 April 07 16:25 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anybody can offer suggestions as to where I can look further in this instance.

Henry George Lloyd bn 1805 married Joan Phillips b 1811.  Crickhowell
Brecon.

They had two sons Thomas bn 1841 and Evan born 1847.

We have Thomas tracked he is my Husbands Great Grandfather
Family tales of Evan is "Lost at Sea".

The normal Ancestry checks have been done as we do not have any knowledge of which ship he sailed on whether he was Royal Navy
or Merchant Navy.  We have hit a brick wall.  There is a death of an Evan Lloyd in the Crickhowell area but it is not "our Evan".  He last appears in the 1861 Census age 13.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could try here. I've had a look on both Navy and other list and couldn't spot him. I know the link says Swansea but it is Welsh mariners.

There's also deaths at sea on Findmypast website.

I know from looking at Cornish parish records that there are many instances of drowned sailors being washed ashore and buried by the order of the coroner. These, of course, are unidentified.

This gives info

hope this helps

Thank you very much for your reply.

I shall ditch the housework, and spend tomorrow investigating these sites.

Thank you again

Puck.
