Samuel Williams, b.c1846, Fishguard.  Seeking info through early census's.  Located on 1901C in Gelligaer, age 45, married to Elizabeth, b.c1846 Dowlais.
anything and everything to do with the village of Brithdir, near New Tredegar in Gwent.

I think you mean born 1856 or aged 55

Not yet easy to locate 1851/61

OK - from 1901 he was born c1855.

Nearest in 1861 is

Margaret, 50, Newport

Eliza, 11, Ll..
Hannah, 8. Ll...
Samuel, 5, Ll...

Family living at Ty Cam, Llanllawer

Llanllawer appears to be an Area south of Fishguard

I think this is him in 1871

Another snap!
I'd found the same family but to be sure, I think you need to get Samuel's marriage certificate for his father's details. Only problem being that there are several possible marriages of a Samuel Williams to an Elizabeth in Glam/Mon.
But they did give their eldest son an identifiable name

Wonder if he was named for this grandfather?  :)
Birth cert woud give you Elizabeth's maiden name and you could then find their marriage.

He's in Aberdare in 1871 as a grocer
