Military Prison Forton
« on: Tuesday 10 April 07 14:22 BST (UK) »
I have a Charles Husselby who appears in the 1861 census as a prisoner at Forton Military Prison near Alverstoke Hampshire.

Does anyone know where I could get the records of his sentence and service details from? Will the records of Forton be held anywhere for this period?

Many thanks

Graham

sadly Forton prison no longer stands, you could try the portsmouth Library http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/learning/1028.html  or the gosport museum http://www.discoverycentres.co.uk/gosport/
ive studied the barrcks in the area and they have been great help.
