I just love to help people where I can.  And as I still had some credit  on the Scotlands people site I thought maybe I could use some to locate Wm's birth record -  but as I can see your tree is indeed very through as is the history of the family.

 I am addicted! I have to force myself to go out for walks! Now I have a digital camera Im more inclined!

Dont know where you are but Im in Exeter and if I can look for anything in Devon Exeter RO just ask!

His grandfather's details, who his greatgrand parents were, would be of interest.
grandfather was William Shearer tenant of Forss overseer to the Sinclair the laird of Forss, born 13 May 1764 I think!
