date please (and info)
« on: Thursday 12 April 07 21:19 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
I believe this could be a wedding photo of William SELF and Eliza NUDDS which would have been about 1875. Could someone please confirm?
  Thanks
Janine

Hi Prue,
I'm delighted to have just got it! It's the earliest family photo so far. Eliza, incidentally, lived until she was 100 and only died in 1956...

And thanks for the clean up Jim!

Hi Janine,
Wow  :o  It's amazing to think of someone having lived through all that change, isn't it...my own nana died two years ago at 98, and when I think about everything that happened between 1907 and 2005, it blows my mind, so imagine what it was like to be there!
You are very lucky to have such an early pic...and such a lovely one too (although the fella looks a bit nervous!!)

Prue  :)

Hi Prue,
You're right, to live to 100 must be amazing. Eliza, by all accounts, was a very strong character. Her granddaughter is still alive today and has plenty of memories.
Eliza went to work as a servant at the age of nine! She was working when she fell for William, who was the groom. He only had eyes for another servant and married her - but she died a few months later. Then Eliza moved in!
  No wonder he looks frightened...
