Much trickier to spot Louisa Lavinia Slade on the 1881 census

Births Mar 1874
Slade  Louisa Lavinia    St Giles  1b 575

She was a servant on the 1891 census.
You might need her birth certificate and or her marriage certificate to go further. It might be interesting to know what the initial D stood for when she married - perhaps another surname?

I would check a website like GenesReunited to see whether anyone is expressing an interest in your mother's C20th/late C19th half siblings. As far as I can see she didn't have any step siblings unless Louisa or Charles married again, to someone with children of their own.

Hello Valda,

RegardingLouisa Lavinia Dorothy DYER (nee SLADE).

We do have all the relevant details for her, Birth / Death / Marriage Certificates etc.
also the same goes for her daughter DOROTHY.

We have previously been into various Census Records, but somehow we missed the listing for these 2 Families.

Any information relating to the past / present / future, is greatly appreciated, it will all go towards unravelling the 'Tangled Web' and in turn completing the jigsaw puzzle.

Thanking everyone who has contributed so far.

Possible marriage - but it would have to be an error on the marriage certificate or GRO index

Marriages Dec 1846
Slade  Joseph     St Giles &  1 67
a possible spouse
Jewell  Catherine Sarah     St Giles  1 67

Caroline's birth certificate would confirm her mother's maiden name.

Births Sep 1857
Slade  Caroline     St. Giles  1b 387

JOSEPH SLADE
Christening:  11 FEB 1822   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  JOHN SLADE
Mother:  MARY

MARY ANN SLADE
Christening:  18 DEC 1814   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Death:  24 MAY 1816
Father:  JOHN SLADE
Mother:  MARY

CHARLES SLADE
Christening:  05 MAY 1817   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  JOHN SLADE
Mother:  MARY

Joseph's father's name can be confirmed from his marriage certificate when you can obtain the one you are sure of to establish whether this is Joseph's baptism. His father's occupation would be on the baptism record.

Hello Valda,

Your past three posts have been very informative and although I knew a lot of the details I have picked up a couple of handy little leads from you and I will follow up on them.

Regarding William SLADE on the 1851 Census, we have not had any luck in tracing him any further, perhaps he died as he was not listed on the 1861 Census.

The 1891 Census details that you sent me could be very helpful indeed.

I have also sent for a birth and death certificate of Jessica DYER in the hope that they provide some more pieces to the missing puzzle surrounding the additional family that I have only found out about in the past few years.

We are off dancing this evening, but will probably be back on-line after we arrive back home.

Many Thanks
Brian H.

There is a possible death for a William

Deaths Mar 1853
Slade  William     St Giles  1b 241

but no birth registration in St Giles.

There may have been other children between censuses.

Are any father's names listed on Louisa Lavinia and Dorothy's birth certificates?
