Taylors of Llanfourt? Blaenavon
« on: Friday 13 April 07 19:00 BST (UK) »
I am pulling my hair out , is there/was there a place called Llanfourt, Montmouthshire (which I know they mean MON) but on the next census when my lady Elizabeth Taylor was married and became Browne it states she was born in Blaenavon, Monmouth.
My partner was brought up in Pwllheli and Llanfourt, he has no idea about.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find her siblings or parents.
Elizabeth Taylor was born 1851,
she got married in 1876 and become Elizabeth Browne.
Until I started this family tree I was 37 and not a single grey hair, its now 12 days until I am 39 and today I have found my 1st grey hair. :'(
Many Thanks

Hi Fleabag

Have you got the marriage cert?  Do you know parents or siblings names etc?

There are a couple to choose from, but I suspect that Llanfourt is a mistranscription!

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

The marriage cert is an original, just about able to read it, think I will have to get a copy of it as, it looks like it has been ragged, which is a shame, half of it is missing.
I know she married Frank Browne in June 1876 in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey and in 1879 they moved to Aldershot, Hampshire.
frank and his father were both Gas Fitters.
When Elizabeth and Frank were married they had a general servant who was Mary A Taylor who was born 1865 in Blaenavon this is likely to be Elizabeth's sister?
I know it is one weird family, so far I have worked out where I get my joy of weird names, lol.

Adline was also the middle name of one of Elizabeths children.

When I was trying for children with my ex husband our surname was Hopper, if I had of had a daughter I was going to call it Happy Sophie Hopper, knowing it would be called 'Happy Shopper' now I know why I am not able to have children. That is so true.

"Happy Shopper" - lol - perhaps you would have reconsidered ...  :-X ;D

I have modified the post above to give details.  Some of the spellings are a bit creative on the part of the enumerator & the place names are very hard to read, so I have done my best!

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
