Just watched this (I taped it).

I really enjoyed it.

I've never been quite sure about what place all this DNA stuff has in family history. After all, being told that you may have pootled up the road from West Africa 30,000 years ago isn't exactly the 1851 census, is it?!  ::)

However, this prog was intelligent and informative and, also, fun.

I see they're doing my part of the country next week - Eastern England. I'll get my horned helmet and offerings to Odin ready now! Although, I don't think I'd make a very good volunteer as my great grandparents came from 7 different counties! But then, if my greatx10,000 grandparents came from West Africa - you see? can't quite grasp the significance!!

However, I do quite grasp (I wish!) the significance of the presenter Neil Oliver. Don't know why, but I find him very - shall we say - very... Scottish!
 :-X  ;)

I would love to have my DNA tested and be told what strains I may have - only it's pretty certain I should have Celtic as my grandfather and his parents were Irish.  On my dad's side there's a strong French "presence".  As we're Phillipses I always thought there'd be Welsh but not found any yet.   :(

The only HUGHES connection I've found so far is in Hampshire! Would like to get husband's other HUGHES line out of NZ and into UK.

The program sounds really interesting - hope it comes to Australia!

There seems to a strong anti-English theme running through this program, with many of the participants desperately hoping to find that they are anything but English. :)

I was hoping the program would answer the big question as to why we speak the way we do but the programme had nothing new to add to the existing knowledge on this topic.
