Hi Fiona,
It is over a dozen years since you were looking for information on Hew Morrison.  I just saw this in the past month when writing a bio for him.  https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Morrison-11142&public=1
Everything that Monica said was right .. including his parents.

Hello Ming, I have a Hew Morrison question you may be able to answer, or to point me in the right direction to find the answer. Or it may be unanswerable.

Hew was Editor of Songs and poems in the Gaelic language by Rob Donn. The Expanded Edition is available online at:

https://archive.org/details/songspoemsingael00donnuoft

A 43 page narrative memoir titled "The Life of Rob Donn" precedes the poems. The memoir lacks footnotes, but contains an extended quotation (page xlviii) attributed to "Roderick Morrison of Cerravaig" (now called Kearvaig). The narrative also identifies 1829 as the year when Roderick Morrison made the comments (page xii).

Is there a way to find the source of this quotation attributed to Roderick Morrison?

My connection to Roderick is as an inlaw of a distant cousin - specifically, Roderick's son William married Marion MacCulloch, whose mother Barbara Ross was a sister of my 3x great grandfather; in other words, Marion MacCulloch Morrison was my 1st cousin four times removed.
