William Henderson and family
« on: Monday 16 April 07 06:52 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out about a William Henderson who married Isabella Andison 24 july 1807 in Southdean, Scotland.  They lived at 10 Oliver Park, Hawick, Scotland I think.  Children were Adam b1809, Andrew b1811, Mary b1812, Margaret b1813, Betty b1817, James b1821, Agnes (Mrs Beattie)b1824, William b1827, John b1831, Thomas b1832.  Any information on William's parents and siblings, marriages of his and Isabella's children would be great.

I think this could be the family in 1841:

Address: Westerhouses, Southdean
William, m, 55, ag lab
Isabella, f, 55, -
William, m, 15, ag lab
John, m, 12, -
Thomas, m, 10, -

All born in county. I've also found what could be William and daughter Agnes in 1851:

Address: Ashtrees, Southdean
William, head, m, wid, 66, ag lab, Rox - Jedburgh
Agnes, dau, f, unm, 26, - , Rox  - Southdean

There is a possible for William in 1861. He's a visitor in the Waugh (?) household, aged 76 and again, born Jedburgh.  :)

Adam Henderson married twice, Firstly to Ann Turnbell and secondly to isabella bertram... He was a Shepard.  he lived in Dewarton in the parish of Borthwick in Mid Lothian.

He died November 17th 1888

I found him on the 1861 and 1871 census living in oxenford farm in Cranston Mid lothian with Isabella and a neice Isabella Bertram (obviously her niece)
also Isabella's father on the 1861

Isabella and Adam got married 14th may1854 in Peebles

I found him on 1851 but there is no image.

I don't see any children.

Best wishes

Mo

I have also been trying to find out about the Hendersons from Hawick area. My great- grandfather, James Henderson came to Croick, Ross-Shire as manager of a sheep farm in 1850. He had seven children; James, Adam (my grandfather), William , Helen, Jamesina ? and two other daughters  I think.
Any information about James's siblings  and their descendants would be great! There was also mention, in a letter belonging to my grandfather, of the Schoolhouse Stouslie and Holefield.
