Help with Wills 1830's
« on: Monday 16 April 07 09:22 BST (UK) »
Hi Yall

I have it on authority from another researcher that my hubbys 5 X Great Grandfather Thomas Edwards 1753-1837 of Ropers Hill Farm, Staunton Harold, Leics, left a will dated 27 Oct 1830
which mentions...........................

The property, Ropers Hill farm 23 acres, left to his youngest son, James, whom he is now living with: also the "Peter & Paul Inn".
£5 to daughter Mary, spinster, res in Worthington.
Chest of drawers to daughter, Ann Tivey, res in Worthington.
1/- to each son, William, Thomas, John & Edward.
Care and maintenance to daughter, Elizabeth, res with father & mother

Although I am really grateful for the transcription, I would really love a copy of the original.  I have searched the National Archives site but it isnt mentioned on their lists.

Can someone tell me how much this would cost to order and where I would purchase it from, are they available to view in Librairies or anywhere online?

Cheers
Jan

Greeting’s Jan…….

Milkyman here again…… ;D

TWO Minutes search = . . . BINGO  !!!

Got a copy of the last Will & Testament of Thomas Edwards
Plus an other Document from 1838. to do with Probate.

Reading through it though …..
There is NO mention of the “ Ropers Hill Farm “ you mentioned
Just all my property and all my debts due to me,
Nor the “ Peter & Paul Inn “
But it did mention James Edwards of Staunton Harold in the County of Leicestershire. Victualer.
In that Document of Probate.

Do you require a copy via your “ blue yonder “ or snail mail ?
