Robert Lloyd or Sarah Jones
« on: Tuesday 17 April 07 05:22 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on my Great Grandfathern "Robert Lloyd" or Grandmother "Sarah Jones". Robert Lloyd was born in Denbigh, Glyn Ceiriog, North Wales UK in 1861 and was a Slate Quarryman. Sarah Jones was also born in Dengigh, Glyn Ceiriog, North Wales in 1965and for a time ran the "Old Sun Inn". They had seven children Edward Henry, Llewellyn, Jane, Pricilla, Mary, Dora and Herbert. Edward married Margretta Griffiths and moved to Canada, two of the daugthers, possibly Mary and Dora married two brothers with the last name Hammer and moved to the USA. If you have any information that may be connected, please let me know.

Thank you, Robert Lloyd

Llansilin is a parish that straddles the boundary of England and Wales just to make things easier!
www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/DEN/Llansilin/index.html

I can see a possibility for Robert in 1871 and 1881: 1871 at home with parents Zechariah and Sarah Llansilin, Denbighshire RG10/2779 folio 30 pg 2, 1881 enumerated in Llansilin, Shropshire RG11/2656 folio 34 pg 1 working on Thomas Morris's 400 acre farm and not far from his parents.
To be sure though, if you don't already have it, you need to get a copy of Robert and Sarah's marriage certificate to confirm the names and occupations of their fathers. Cert can be ordered online, using the GRO ref in previous post.

I've had a quick look for Sarah Jones - at least 4 possibles. Father's name needed to progress.

hope some of this is of use

Hi.  I know its been 10 years since your post but maybe you will pick this up.
I am a direct descendent of Robert Lloyd and Sarah Jones, through their first son Llewelyn Lloyd.  I have managed to trace the Lloyds back to the parish of Llangar in the 1700s.  Robert Lloyd was born in Eglwyseg in 1860.  His parents were Robert Lloyd born 1808 and Miriam Humphreys born 1824, both from the parish of Llangar.
