No, you are quite correct, it isn't back to the beginning. I hadn't known that the strange surname had lasted quite so long (one name is hard enough to trace without this complication - this family wasn't going to make it easy for historians 300+ years later  ::).

I have asked on the Herts board if SKS could check the actual baptism record and see if parents names are mentioned. It may at least give me a clue of some sort (fingers crossed)

BTW re Your Photo request in Ware - I am looking at a map of Ware and there are at least 3 "Water Works" sites mentioned. Do you have any other info from his census record re other streets nearby?

I will be taking lots of general pics anyway and will send those when/if I come home  ;)
