EALES families
« on: Sunday 22 April 07 14:05 BST (UK) »
I am trying to establish a link between the EALES family of Hinckley, Leicestershire and the EALES families of Northants, specifically of Long Buckby and Bugbrook(e). As I understand it, Watling St runs very close to all those places and it would seem reasonable that the people would have moved back and forth along it. I have found some EALES in places like Green's Norton also. There is also the possibility that the name may have been corrupted from EYLES. Are there any members of the EALES families out there?

Moderator Comment: If anybody can help, then please check out the thread on the Leicestershire Board as well,
to avoid duplication of efforts. Thanks :)

Hi

Not sure if this will help at all, but I have an Emma Mason who married Robert Eales in Northampton, unfortunately I haven't investigated the Eales family as I've been concentrating on my direct lines. Emma was born in 1889 in Northampton. Her parents, grandparents and great grandparents were born in Long Bucky as were a lot of my Mason's line. One branch of the Mason's moved to Leicester.

Don't know whether this is of any help. I was at school in 50s with peggy eales. Parents used to keep Eagle pub in Charles st,Leicester. MERCURY GAVE AN ACCOUNT OF THIS FAMILY ONLY 3 WEEKS AGO. You could perhaps ask them--MERCURY OFFICES , ST. Georges way,Leics.

Hi, I have been researching the Eales family from the Towcester and surrounding areas, I am not directly related but my Grandmother married into the Eales family after my Grandfather died so I am researching for a cousin who is a member of the Eales family.
Regards
Brian

Hi, I'm from the Eales side from Green's Norton and Towcester.

Far too  Williams, James's, John's etc who all went on to marry Mary's and Elizabeth's.  The fact that my grandfather was adopted out doesn't help.

I've done a DNA test and it is logged with Ancestry, My Heritage and Gedmatch if that helps anyone.

My connection goes Francis Hugo Pook < Owen Eales and Millicent Seal < George Eales and Sarah Howes < Stephen Eales and Mary Wright< Stephen Eales and Esther
Pook.    (Dorset. Kent. NZ)
Spicer.  (Buckland Newton)
Forsyth. (Fyvie, Scotland.  London, England.  NZ)
Eales
Roach    (Ireland)

My Families of Towcester file has Eales families from the marriage of William Eales in 1740 in Cold Higham

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01rb7/  on Ancestry

It spreads out all over Cold Higham, Greens Norton and Towcester, and then (ahem) to Australia via the convict transportation ships. Four of Stephen Eales sons were transported!

The Eyles families locally are not (so far!) connected.

Hi

I've just checked on my tree and I have a Thomas Eales born 1824 in long buckby. He ended up in billesdon Leicestershire and died there in 1898. His father was also Thomas Eales. From what the census says, he was born in Church Lawford, Warwickshire in 1794. He also died in billesdon.
