Welcome to RootsChat

This is possibly your grandmother's birth reg (although names not in the order you have)
freeBMD
Susannah Catherine L Kemp
Mar qtr 1904
Birmingham
6d 35

Sending for her birth cert would give parents names

Her marriage cert would give father's name and occupation

That information would help trace further back-without guesswork

You are possibly a year out with gran's death

Death reg
Catherine Susanne L Smart
Oct 1987
Bromsgrove
age 83
d.o.b. 23 jan 1904
29 105

her d.o.b. fits in with the birth reg previously posted
seems like she used her names in different orders!

On complete index I can find no marriage to Walter in 1962.
How certain are you of the dates quoted???

The only birth reg of Walter Smart I can find in 1907 is
Mar qtr 1907
Melksham Wilts
5a 119

have you got certificates for any of your dates -or are you relying on family memories????

When was your gran's eldest child born -this would give an idea of approx when her marriage took place -often children arrive within 1-2 years of marriage

Forgive me if you think I am asking too many questions, but if you get the dates wrong early on in research, you can very easily follow the wrong family

suz thats walter he lived in melksham i have those certificates , but not the marriage cetificate for her first marriage to george smart born 1900 trowbridge. it was much easier for walter as he was alive when i met him but sadly my granddad died in 1957 1 yr before i was born and i never really asked nan about grandad as my uncle walter took his place.

Could this be George?
born in frome but living in Trowbridge at the age of 11mths ?
Also he has a sister Rose,   was Rose who married Bob Wilson possibly Rose Smart-not Rose Kemp? She could have been your gran's sister in law -not sister??????
