Working from census, estimate when & where they were married, and compare freebmd marriage entries for him to come up with candiate surnames for Harriet, based on transcribed spouses.

What census(es) can you give us for starters?

OK, but it's really best to give the WHOLE family/household, with FULL details  for each census.

What census info can you give us?

cant find him in 1901

Hello marhat

This might be why......

Possible Death Registrations

1894 Aston AMJ quarter 6d 172

Isaac Bickerstaff (Aged 51)

1897 Aston JFM quarter 6d 175

Henry William Bickerstaff (Aged 20)

1899 Kings N. OND quarter 6c 254

Harriet L Bickerstaff (Aged 52)

All the remaining members of the family appear on the 1901 census. Please let me know if you have not got them already and I will provide the details.

Harriet Bickerstaff  trying to find her maiden name she was born about 1849. IGI list ... says ...Harriet Louisa

marhat

Have you considered this.......?

In 1848/49 there were only two births registered in Birmingham for anyone called Harriet Louisa.

There was a Harriet Louisa Mills and a Harriet Louisa PERIAM

This looks like the birth registration for one of the sons of Isaac and Harriet Bickerstaff

1883 Birmingham AMJ quarter 6d 119

Charles PERIAM Bickerstaff

What do you think ?

The census info you give implies he probably married between 1861 and 71
However, I have just been through full marriage indexes for those years and no sign of a marriage for Isaac Bickerstaff.

I reckon your next move will have to be to get one of the children's birth certs.
For example Marion Rebecca, Jan/Feb/Mar 1871, Birmingham area, ref 6d 131
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
