Lawrie Family of Haddington

I am so frustated cannot find any of Lawrie family on ScotlandsPeople website.

I cannot find the marriage of James Lawrie and Janet Nelson between 1830 to 1851.

I cannot find the births/baptism of their children :

Mary Ann b.1828
Margaret b. 1834
James Nelson b. 1838 Haddington
John b. 1840 Haddington
Robert b. 1846 Edinburgh

Can you help please?

I am having difficulty finding marraiges and baptisms, but I have them in 1841 census at Market Street, Haddington, note there is a Charles also;

James 44 b 1797 East Lothian Publican
Janet 34 b 1807 East Lothian
Charles 13 b 1828 East Lothian
Mary Ann 10 b 1831 East Lothian
Margaret 7 b 1834 East Lothian
James Nelson 3 b 1838 East Lothian

Going by her 1851 birth place, this would look to be Janet Nelson's christening entry on the OPRs:

Going back to your original question  , there is only one child's birth/christening entry showing on the OPRs:

Nothing at all on the marriage though

Hi Monica,

Sems like the correct 51 and 61 census families, bit in the 41 the rounded down year, why put 44 and 34 for ages? They must have been correct ages see Janet in the 61.

Although the enumerators were supposed to follow the instructions on the rounding down of ages for everyone over 15 for the 1841 census, not all did. Sometimes they wrote the actual age (or as stated).

Thank you very much for your help but I do have James Lawrie Sr in 1851 and lived with his mother Marion Green and son Charles. I don't know why James and Janet lived seperately. It's mystery! Anyway, I want to check was Janet widow on 1851 and 1861?

I just noticed Nelson as in Neilson - interesting, I haven't tried that!
