Asylums..............
« on: Thursday 26 April 07 15:55 BST (UK) »
How does one find the name of asylums between 1890-1910 and which county they were in.  Also is it possible to see the names of the patients?

Thanks for any assistance

Thanks Pete,

Certainly gives all the names of the asylums, I need to go onto the 1901 census now to search for names.

Looking for a lost Aunt who was admitted as a child and do not know what happened to her, my father was born in 1902 so she may of been born before then as my Grandparents married in 1896, do not even know her first name.

Helena, I just typed the name in as usual into the search box of the census, and up came my person,          I did not have a clue where shewas. Apparently she spent more than 30 years in an Institution, so sad ...

So sad, dolly dimples.

I tried that on the 1901 census, no luck asked for a first name which is mandatory, tried putting unknown but would not accept it.

The 1901 census on ancestry let me enter so far, as I do not subscribe I'll try again to morrow at the library. Free access there.  It was the 1901 census on genes I tried first.
