Thanks for that. You can get a full list of all the ships and the names & details of the girls, in a book called "Barefoot and Pregnant" by Trevor McClaughlin.
When the girls on the Diadem arrived in Melbourne, they were transferred to a depot, from where they were allocated suitable work.
Catherine went to work as a nanny for Daniel Leahy, grocer of Latrobe St. for 6 months at L9 per year.
She soon met Thomas Brown from Westmeath, a policeman, whom she married on 5.5.1852.
Regards,
Ken

If Catherine Riley came from the village of Whitehill, which RC parish would that be in ?
Perhaps someone knows, and I could contact the parish church.
Otherwise, we won't get any further, it seems.
I heard some time ago that there could be more personal details on some of the girls at the National Archives, Belfast, I think it was. Does anyone know ?

Workhouse records, if that's what you mean, might be in PRONI - see online e-catalogue at www.proni.gov.uk.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I went through search eng. google when the box came up type in - Ballycassidy Workhouse
then I went down the page and clicked on Ships-Victoria Australia-Irish Famine Memorial
lots of ships with a lot of passengers.  Your Catherine Riley was listed on this site with the Proni ref: no.
this site was complied initially from article by Trevor McClaughlin "Barefoot and Pregnant" will send you e-mail address private message.
