Hi Parky

Just some additional info from the censuses. The birth cert you ordered for an Elizabeth b.1880 with parents James and Jessie as you say, is not yours (there is a family with parents James and Jessie and an Elizabeth in the 1881 Census but she was born in Dumfries).

There is an entry in the 1881 Census which fits what you have posted:

Joan Paterson    32, ag. lab., b. Middlebie
Thomas John Paterson 10, b. Dornock
Maggie Paterson 7, b. England
Robert Paterson 3, b. Gretna
Elisabeth Paterson 1, b. Kirkpatrick Flg

Address: Calvertsholm Cottage, Kirkpatrick Fleming

Regards.

Monica

There is a possible birth entry for Joan Paterson in 1842 in Middlebie to parents John Paterson and Margaret Platt. This is a submitted entry on IGI, and also from a parent search, there are a number of other children showing to these parents born in Middlebie.

This looks like the family in 1851:

John Paterson    45, joiner, b. Annan
Margret Paterson 36, b. Kirkpatrick Flem
Jane Paterson    11, b. Kirkpatrick Flem
John Ann (Johann? down as female) Paterson 9, b. Middlebie
Helen Paterson    6, b. Middlebie
Margret Paterson 4, b. Middlebie

Address: Christilands, Middlebie

Regards.

Monica
