Elizabeth Macfadyen & spouse James Strawbridge.

Could anyone trace the marriage of Elizabeth MacFadyen to James Strawbridge at Stranraer c. 1831 for me please?

Sorry not finding them on either IGi or Scotland's People

Have found thse which do prove Strawbridges in area but whether connected cannot tell.

These came from Scotlandwide search rather than just Wigtownshire so no marriage recorded in Scotland. Could they have married in England ?

That's them!. William was my direct line ancestor. James, Ann & Philip b.c.1846)  were born after 1841. James Snr. does not show in the 1851 census and I think he might have died at sea as I have been unable to trace his death.
If anyone else is interested in the name I have sent my notes - below.


Elizabeth was born in 1805 at Minigaff, Kirkcudbright, the daughter James MacFadyen, mother unknown.  She was aged 26 when she married James Strawbridge in 1831 at Stranraer. The couple had 9 recorded children (see above) Elizabeth was widowed sometime between c.1846 and 1851. She died at Stranraer in 1854 when her  children were aged between 22 and 8.
James MacFadyen would have been born pre 1779 and married pre 1805. - possibly in Ireland -  I have nfinfo. about James.

I later traced William & family to the Gorbals and on into Co. Durham.
