Chris 1066

Please could you try and find a James G Mann and his family in the above census records.

He was born C1812-1816 in Hastings.  I am hoping that the 1820 census will reveall him and his parents.  All other lines of enquiry have failed to find him, so you are my last hope.  Many thanks for an info you can find about the Manns
Sussex: Mann, Cooke, Perks, Ellis
Kent:  Parish
Birmingham + London: Beaver, Isaacs, Carthy

Hi  there

Have had a look through the baptisms in Hastings and found the following:

All Saints, 17th March 1816, James Mann, son of William & Delia, Labourer
All Saints, 28th May 1817, James Valentino Mann, son of James & Sarah, Mariner

Do you have any idea what the occupation of his parents might have been?

The 1821 census shows:
Beach Cottages - William Mann, 3 Males, 9 Females in 3 Families - no occupation shown
Castle Inbounds - William Mann, 3 Males, 4 Females in 1 Family, Occupation Sailmaker.

The 1836 - 37 Registered Electors of Hastings has:
William Mann, Boatman of Beach Cottages
James Mann, Innkeepr of East Beach Street
William Mann, Stonecutter of Sinnock Square
Thomas Mann, Fisherman of York Buildings
Joseph Mann, Fisherman of West Street
James Mann, Ironmonger of East ascent, St L on S
Joseph Mann, Cock Laundress of East Ascent, St L on S

Hope the above Helps
