BARBADOS: Cumberbatch

i am trying to find out more info on a theodore theophilus cumberbatch b1864? barbados he was a ship steward (how do i find which ships he may have been on?)he married mary ellen kewin at fleetwood in 1889.on 1891 census she is shown as living at the home of her parents but seperately from them but there is no sign of theodore i assume he is away at sea at the time of the census.on the 1901 census mary and theodore are both listed living at barton upon irwell his occupation is as above.i do know that his father was called william henry(occ:superintendent commessariet dep)  and thanks to family search it looks like his mother may have been called rebecca brown(this is unconfirmed)can anyone give me some tips on how to find out more info on him in barbados.
