Quakers BENNETT and BRICE
« on: Friday 03 December 04 10:53 GMT (UK) »

Hello

I am a new to the history of the Society of Friends/Quakers - would there be records of Dorset families available?

My BENNETT's and BRICE's pre-c. 1700 do not seem to be
in parish registers.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi Jean,

if you look on the Dorset OPC site: http://www.dorset-opc.com/  you will find 243 entries for BENNETT and 28 for BRICE.  Some are census records, some are parish register entries.

Have a look and see if you recognise anybody.  :)

if you go to this site, The Dorset Pages:
http://www.thedorsetpage.com/Dorset_Home.htm
and click on Genealogy, you will find lots of links for Dorset info. including more parish registers

Good Luck !

p.s.
if you enter "quaker genealogy" in google, you get 76000 entries (!!)
one of which is http://www.ancestralfindings.com/cd192.htm which looks good.
try a few of these sites  ;)

Hi

Thank you for your prompt reply, it is much appreciated.

The links to other sites will be searched for a significant hit.  Easy to miss an 'elusive' ancestor, and will let you know.

Hello Sue,

....the link to pages for the Quakers is a good idea.   I have been travelling for a month and now catching up with messages.

Much appreciate your help
