Thankyou both so much, all that information to digest. I dont think the 1881 census for Amelia is mine though birth out by about 20 years if the christening to be believed.
All those grandchildren in 1871 there must be at least 2 sets of parents because i doubt premature babies survived like they do now. A 3yr old. 1year old, 10 month old and a 6 month old.
One set of parents would have been Cornelius (jr) and Elizabeth but the others are single.
I have found a marriage for Robert Cole and Rebecca Spracklin in the lds  on 12 Nov 1816 St Nicholas, Ipswich, Suffolk, England

I did find the 1881 census for
about Cornelius Rbt. Cole living at 14 Christchurch St

. William Herbert is the younger brother.
there is no Julius or Florence who showed as grandchildren in the 1871 census for Cornelius (sr)

Now that i am armed with all these new names i have found the 1881 census for Henry Dyer Cole. Poor fellow was a widow with three young children, his sister Ellen was residing with him. According to bdm's he married in 1870 and again in 1881.His children do not match the extra grandchildren though.

is the lds always correct or are transcribing errors uncommon. I have just worked out that Emily Rebecca was born on her parents 6month wedding anniversary. She wasn.t christened until 1849. Would this have been ok in 1845 or might it have been a hasty marriage.

These are extracted christening records, and are accurate as transcriptions can be = it's always better to check the original. A birthdate of 25 Sep 1845 matches the 1851 census find ...

What do you mean by "would this have been OK?" To christen a child at age 4? It wasn't uncommon for people to wait until they had a whole batch they could christen in one go...

As to "hasty marriages", they were quite common too - I come across them all the time  :)

actually the fact she would have been pregnant when she got married. A lot of mine got christened in batches. I guess that was easier, my poor children have never had that privilige (of being christened)
