His collar dogs shows he is a Royal Irish Fusilier.  He wears on his collar, the fusil bomb of a fusilier and also what I've been led to believe is the Star of St Patrick.

Sorry!  have not got the photo to hand to check his shoulder,  and I'm off to bed  for now.
