Thank you, I've only been doing this for a week so still have a lot to learn, funny you should mention the Moores, in the 1891 census Elizabeth Challoner had a William Moore boarding with her at 2 Thorpe St Stockton on Tees and in 1871 Joseph and Sarah Chellener (spelling 1851 ::)) had a Henry Moore (brother in law) living with them. I made a bit of a leap and assumed that Moore was Sarahs maiden name. Tbh I made a bit of an assumption that they were Williams parents but the Moore connection is starting to look a lot less tenuous.
As you can see *coughs* I've made a lot of progress ;D. I shall check out those sites you mentioned but my heads spinning trying to keep the generations in order, the Mansells seem to be my great-great-great grandparents  :o. I wouldn't have got this far without help from you two.
Thank you again. x

http://www.freebmd dot org dot uk

And on FreeCEN at:

And GENUKI at:

Just had a quick look on FamilySearch and found 2 christenings for William Mansells in 1815 in Shropshire, one in Wellington (my favourite) and one Wroxeter so could possibly have found Williams parents.
Don't think I've seen freecen so I'm off there now to suss it out.
Thank you x
