Many thanks to you both - things seem to be progressing - the birth does seem interesting Jenn - could be worth $17.50 (I wish they were like Scotland and $2.50  :'(  )

...................
no luck with a fitzroy birth  there is one in collingwood  in 1857 no father but mother elizabeth?
for fanny laidlaw marshall reg no 473.....rgards jenn

Fitzroy and Collingwood could depend on what side of the street you lived in some parts.  The indexes show the place where the births are registered, and not necessarily the same suburb as they happened.

Thanks Jenn, I did see that one & it could be worth purchasing

Thanks for the comment Christine - my Melbourne geography is not good (actually it is very bad)

Just had to mention Annie (AnneCaroline) went to the NSW Archives today & found some wills for me - the details of which she has transcribed, providing some wonderful information on the family  :)

It is very much appreciated
