Welcome to RootsChat ... I hope you will find us of some use to you for finding 'ancestors' rather than those who may very well be alive still. You can modify messages by clicking the little 'modify' button on your posting, and it comes up again in a 'post reply' box, where you can alter spellings, add or remove info.
The ruling about living people is sensible really, as there are all sorts of odd people out there who might be able to gain information which they could then use against children and adults too. This also applied to any photo's posted ... they mustn't be of the living (I suppose you might get away with a back view !)
Have a look through the various boards ... there's PrueM's board about Victorian photos; photo restoration board; and 'technical' which will help you with using your computer. The postings at the top of each board are usually very helpful with guidance on how to post pictures, how to find the right board for your queries, etc. There is always someone who knows something which can help you. Also have a look at 'The Lighter Side' and its child board ... fun and jokes and friendship on those !
