I decided to look for Eliza and input Green,  Lincolnshire and  Rop*  as my search criteria...

HI Guys

I have just tried to find them in 1881 on the IGI site and I come up with nothing.

I know they exist as I have a note that someone sent saying they found a Henry Green in Wales with a wife Eliza but the birthplace is given as Retlan, Rutland.

Strange I cannot explain the note I have in my records.

This is the note.

1881 Census England Bedfordshire
RG11/1568/29/18
Railway Hut of William MARTIN

GREEN Henry Lodger Unmarr 47 Railway Lab Ketton Northants

This is most likely him, although there was another Henry in Wales, birthplace was given as  Retlan, Rutland, though maybe it should have been Ketton.  However, Henry in Wales was with a wife Eliza and his occupation was simply Labourer.

On the 1851 census there were two Henry Greens born Ketton
one born 1828 and one born 1833

Burial at Newton Nottage, St John the Baptist 17 Mar 1895, Eliza Green age 65

Odd that I can't see either a burial for Henry at Newton Nottage or a death registration in Bridgend district

Maybe she was a deserted wife?

It is in 1871 btw that Henry's birthplace is described as Retlan.
