Please help in finding Monaghan's and Carbery's

I have only recently found out that a branch of my family come from County Monaghan,the Monaghan's and the Carbery's.
I was hoping that somebody would take pity on me and give me a little push in the right direction,as the information I have is very little so here it is..........James Monaghan married a Brigita they had a son Hugh Monaghan abt 1826 he came to live in Wolsingham Durham England date unknown he then married a Margaret Carbery in Wolsingham.Margaret and her family also came from County Monaghan her parents were called Patrick Carbery and Mary .
I don't think either set of parents came to England but I will have to do more digging around.
Sorry that it's not a lot of info but if any one can help or even just advise me where to look it would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly in regard to the surname Monaghan - this has a different derivation to the name of the county and the Monaghan family name originates in the west of Ireland.

I have had a look at Griffiths Valuation c.1850s and there are many Monaghan households in the county but there are only two households under the name James Monaghan.

The first is renting a house and garden in Liseggerton, Clones.

The second is renting a House and 15 acres with Michael Monaghan in Drumartigan, Errigal Trough.

Interestingly Michael is the lessor on another house in Drumartigan rented by Catherine Soorahan. This may have been another family home if he is living with his brother (pure conjecture!)

There is only one Patrick Carberry listed on Griffiths Valuation in Monaghan.

He was renting just over 3 acres of land from Francis Young in a place called Mullaghcroghery in Monaghan parish.

However there is no mention of a house, only land and I can't find Patrick mentioned in any other adjoining parish so I'm not sure that he actually lived there.

The dates of events that you are after precede the introduction of "official registration" here so your route now must be to check the parish register for the area.

The NLI in Dublin and PRONI in Belfast have microfilms for Clones but baptisms start in 1848 and marriages in 1821- not very helpful to our cause.

You could try writing to the local priest to see what records they have in local possession - see link below for contact details.
