little/whittaker & whitfield canonbie marriage (search completed)

could any one help me with the following marriage .

William ( whittaker or little)  born 1885  marrying a Janet Ellen Whitfield at burnside canonbie  25/03/1914.

Janet Ellen Whitfield  c.1890 mother possibly Isabella little.


parents of William  (born england).................... David little 1860 canonbie
                                                                   Hannah Whittaker  c.1864 england .


does any one have them in their tree or give any more info.

I see what you mean as their are two references to the same marriage on SP.

W Whittaker, coal miner, aged 29 - mother Hannah Little, maiden surname Whittaker

to

Jane Ellen Whitfield, housekeeper, aged 25 - mother Isabella Little, maiden surname Whitfield.

No mention of a father in either case.

Have you checked for them on the 1901 census?

well that's now thrown me as i didn't know there were two  entries, i had only ever seen one ,  yes i have found them on the 1901 census , but now wondering about he second entry you mention.    thanks adrian

There was only one certificate - they were just indexed twice. The information I gave came from the certificate.

well after more checks how right you are no father .   william whittaker was born  kirk andrews up on esk   england    and david little and hannah whittaker (mother) didn't wed until 2 years later .     thanks for pointing this out to me .
