You and me both Helen!!
I would just love to know what happend to Mary and her husband David cos I can't seem to find them together in any census after the birth of their daughter Helen, in 1858.
Why?
Why was Helen living with her grandparents at the age of 2 & why did she come to Oz without her parents???
This is driving me nuts!!!
I think I'm becoming obsessed!

Hi Annie
My mum was brought up by her aunt and uncle because her mother died when she was young
I was shocked when I looked Granda Paddy's birth cert and it said illegitimate on it mother's name Ellen Burns
fathers name Martin Burns
but it had a declaration on it stating that she was married to an Archibald Lynch but that she had no personal relations
with him for 15 years before the birth however I looked up his parents details anyway to add to granda Paddy's tree
and guess what Archibald Lynch's Mother's name was Mary Lynch
I dont think it is your Mary because she is married to a James Lynch and her maiden name was Long
and Granda was born in 1898
I thought I would just share it with you
and if I find any other coincedences with them I will let you know
bye  the way I think we are all obsessed with finding the roots of our trees
best of luck in your search
Elaine

Hi Elaine
Isn't it great that addiional information like the state of her marriage was noted on the BC......if it hadn't been you could have been left wondering forever. I must admit the Scottish have done a brilliant job at recording past events. Here in Oz there is very little recorded on certificates until the early 1900's...just the basics.
And Yes, we genies are usually an obsessed lot! I don't just want to find out dates, I love to find those little facts that paint a picture.......I'm trying to put my family history in story form so that I have something to leave my two boys (or should I say men!). They think I'm obsessed! but as I've said to them, they may not be terribly interested now but once I'm gone, that seems to be when you start wondering about family history. I know the death of my parents triggered my journey, unfortunately I had left it too late before I started asking questions and hence I've been working on this family (my mums) for well over 5 years now.
But I find it all fascinating and won't give up until I can fit all the jigsaw pieces together  ;D ;D

Hello again everyone
It's been a while since I've posted on this topic but rest assured I haven't given up!
Since talking to you all last, I've discovered when my Lynch's came out to Oz.....Ellen on the "Morning Star" in 1863 and Margaret and Helen (WALLACE) on the "Burlington" in 1865.
My reason for posting today though is to ask how I would find out where this Mary WALLACE is possibly buried?
If she was buried as a pauper (which I suspect she would have been) are there any burial records online that I could search?
What would be the likely cemeteries in 1907 when the event took place?
Although I can't prove conclusively this is "my" Mary WALLACE, I strongly suspect she is and I'm planning a trip to Scotland & Ireland next year to visit the places my rellies came from.
Cheers
Annie
