Hi Vonne
Just a possibility-

On the IGI there's a marriage for an Edward Hamnett to a Mary Martin in 1765 in St Oswalds  Chester. Is that too late?

It looks like his baptism record is there with parents James and Mary.

www.familysearch.org (International Genealogical Index) sorry unable to do the link.

Hi Neptune,
Thank you for your help

It maybe the correct marriage ?
My Edward was baptized at Wrenbury in 1714 .Strangely his parents were also James and Mary  but they were from Newhall ?
I have copy of Edwards will and it would seem he owned land and houses in Newhall  but  was also  a surveyor . May be he partially worked in Chester and met Mary there ?
He had two daughter , Margaret and Martha .I have not yet found their baptism . They  may help to confirm a marriage date ,
Thanks again for your help
Regards Yvonne

Hi Vonne

Do you have a John Hamnett in your family tree?  My Hamnetts lived near by at Wybunbury and Nantwich.  John died in 1755.  His daughter, Ann Hamnett, married James Bayley of Stapeley Hall in 1747.

Hi Jason,
I am sure that there must a link between the Hamnetts of Wrenbury and Wybunbury ?
My earliest Hamnett is Thomas baptized in Wrenbury in 1641 ,I am descended by son James 1680-1756.
I have not come across a John that fits your dates .
I noticed your interest of the Bayley family
I am related to the Bayley family of Haslington.John Bayley baptized in Haslington in1775 .His father was Thomas but I have been unable to trace his baptism
Will let you know if I work out the link between the Hamnett branches

Hi,

I have just discovered that my 5th Great Grandfather John Jenkyns married Mary Hamnett at Wrenbury 30 December 1721. It appears she was baptised there on 26 March 1698 the daughter of a Thomas Hamnett. I am currently aware that they had 3 children - Anne 1723, Katherine 1724, and William 1729.

I wondered if there was a connection to your family?

Alan

The 1765 marriage to Mary Martin was by Licence and on the Licence it states that Edward was from Newhall.
