What exactly would you like to find out about the Millichip family?  There are lots of Rootschat members who are more than willing to help you.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to post everything you have found out so far, including details of your Taylor family, as a starting point.

Do you need to find them in the census returns, parish registers, birth/marriage/death details.............the list is endless :D

Hope we will be able to help you.

Hi Deany,
Hope this helps, from the Condover parish records, as follows.
17/aug/1788 Eleanor d of Wm and Sarah Millichip b
28/feb/1790 Mary      d of  Wm and Sarah Millichip b
6/apr/1792  Margret d of Wm and Sarah Millichip  B

From the Berrington parish records, as follows,
27/sep/1812 John Pitt, servent, and Martha Millichip sp  Banns

This is all that shows up on my disk for the spelling (MILLICHIP).
I to am searching the Cound area so maybe we might be next door neighbours.
best of luck in your search,
Best regards,
PETE.

Hi Jan and Pete

thanks for your help on the Millichips.

Im still searching and found William and Sarah listed as Millichope in 1841.

Pete - would love to know if you have any info on Cound Manor as my gx3 grandfather was a gamekeeper for the Manor and also keen to know where you got the parish records from as would love to see what else is mentioned for different spellings of their name.

Hope thats ok and thanks again for your interest

best wishes

Hi Deany,
Just had another look at the 51 census of  COUND, (its a dream, its only 30 pages long), I cannot guarantee how accurate it is as some of the writing is poor, and whoever has made my discs up, has managed to cut the address in half. as follows,

Matthew  Millichip head  mar 26  game keeper           Cound
Sarah            "      Wife                                               (cant read)
next house,
Will?    Millichip      Head         30?     Game keeper      Cound
next house,
Mary  Millichip       Serv           20?                             (looks like Shoothill)
next house,
Harnage?  Ann Brazier? head  landowner                    ?
"              Ann millichips   serv 16                                   Kenely
next house,
Coundmoor   Matthew Millichip head mar 54 bricklayers lab    Cound
  "                  Mary           "        wife  mar  57                          Montgomershire,
next house,
Coundmoor   Hanna    Millichip head   48 widow needlewoman  Surrrey?
      "              Harriet       "        dau     15     at home                    ?
      "             James        "          son    11         "                      Church Stretton
      "             John          "           son    5          "                          Cound
     "              Ann           "          dau      ?        "                                "

Deany you will have to check these for yourself, but I am pretty certain I have read the surname right,
Drop me a line if you think I can help you,
Best regards.

Thanks Pete - think someone had already given me the same info as I had the same half sheet printouts you have :)

Did manage to find the full pages on Ancestry now that 1851 is on there so printed them all off again which was useful.

Just need to start pouring over the parish records now as keen to find out what Mary's maiden name was and will have to visit Cound sometime soon to see what history there is on the Manor.

Best wishes

Hi Deany.
So sorry, I did not tell you what disc  I am using, its the " English parish records: Shropshire ( Lithfield diocese ) .
this is the sales blurb, 572,660 individual records on cd-rom, fully indexed and instantly searchable, excellent source of records before the advent of civil registration,.   I think I paid about 35 quid for it, ( for once the blurb is right )
If nothing else, it makes a fasinating look back at our past back to ab 1530,
I got it from www.ancestry.com/rd/parish.
As for Cound manor, try entering  in your engine   cound manor shropshire,
thats all, try the second site down , ( I got lost on it ),
Regards Pete.
( p s ) what Mary are you looking for?  age/status/ birthplace ( if known ) it may be possible that a marriage, ( show maiden name ) might just be included on the disc,

Hi Pete

Thank you very much for the heads up on Cound Manor, will check that out.

and the disc sounds good - might need to investigate that one further.

The mary Im after is the one you found in the 1851 census -

Coundmoor   Matthew Millichip head mar 54 bricklayers lab    Cound
  "                  Mary           "        wife  mar  57                          Montgomershire,

If there is anything for Matthew and Mary re marriages I would be very grateful for your help.

Thank you again for the information

best wishes
