Here is your Mary in 1901

1901 Village Street,Ragnall. RG13; Piece: 3123; Folio: 93

Mary Hempstock, head, aged 90 is with her grand daughter Anna Sleight aged 23, born Dunham on Trent.

The NFHS burial index only goes to 1902 for Ragnall, that’s why I didn’t find a burial.

Sheila.

ps

this from FreeBMD is likely to be your Mary

Deaths Sep 1908

Sheila and Susan, thanks to the both of you, this is excellent stuff!!  ;D

I think your Mary is staying with her father John Cobb on the 1841.....

Ragnall
HO107/ 849/ 34

What do you think?

I believe with the children from the 1841 census, that Francis had been married before. Yet, I cannot find a death for the first wife, which I also think was Mary, if I have the marriage correct.

Searching through all the different records, the surname is transcribed as either Hempstock or Hempstalk. I have this marriage from Notts archives:

East Drayton [Microfiche 3; Page 6; Entry 16]
Francis Hempstalk of this parish, Shoemaker and Mary Clifton, of North Leverton, Spinster were married in this church by Banns on 2nd March 1820. By A Galland, Curate.
Groom signed the register, bride made her mark in presence of  John Hempstalk and William Wittam.

I have a similar record for the marriage of John Hempstock. A certain Francis Hempstock is a witness.

Is this my Francis?

I think this is a death record for Mary
