What do you think?
I believe with the children from the 1841 census, that Francis had been married before. Yet, I cannot find a death for the first wife, which I also think was Mary, if I have the marriage correct.
Searching through all the different records, the surname is transcribed as either Hempstock or Hempstalk. I have this marriage from Notts archives:
East Drayton [Microfiche 3; Page 6; Entry 16]
Francis Hempstalk of this parish, Shoemaker and Mary Clifton, of North Leverton, Spinster were married in this church by Banns on 2nd March 1820. By A Galland, Curate.
Groom signed the register, bride made her mark in presence of John Hempstalk and William Wittam.
I have a similar record for the marriage of John Hempstock. A certain Francis Hempstock is a witness.
Is this my Francis?
I think this is a death record for Mary
