James Forrest born circa 1761

From the Inventory of my GGGG Grandfathers estate I've found his date of death.  It is 6 Feb 1825 in Camlachie.
   
1.  How do I go about finding records of this as it is pre 1855?
2.  How much will it cost?
3.  What info is it likely to give me?

I've got his marriage details but nothing else and am stuck getting further back in his line.  He was married in Kirkintilloch to Janet Rochead.
Any help will be appreciated.
