Hi Erika

Not sure what period your family surnames were living at those villages but I see you have a Barker from Woodham Mortimer and other names from nearby.

My g/g/g/ grandfather was Richard Barker born in Danbury in 1829 which is only about 2 miles away from Woodham Mortimer, his father Thomas was also born in Danbury in 1805 as was Richard's siblings.  He married Caroline Woodfine who (along with her siblings) was born in Great Baddow which is only about 3 miles on from Little Baddow where your family name of Ewers were.

Regards

Stewart

Hi Stewart

Thanks for reply.

My Barker is Obadiah b 1795, he had numerous children but not a Richard.

Don't know if Obadiah had a brother called Thomas.

Erika  Below is an e-mail reply I received 2 years ago from someone using this forum:

Hello Stewart

Unfortunately, researching the name Barker in Danbury is like opening a floodgate --there are so many of them. There appear to have been two main branches:- the one which I evolved from, had predominately the christian names of William, Isaac, Thomas, and John. This family is documented in the area from the mid 17th c, and my direct line left in the mid 18thc, initially to the Rochford district, and then in the mid 19thc to the East End of London, although of course there were still siblings left in the previous two.
The other branch, with which I have as yet found no connection with my own, although they were continually crossing paths, had predominently the christian names of Obadiah, George, Henry and John, and are documented in the area far further back than mine. I do have note of a couple of Richards appearing in this line back in the mid 18thc, but of course I dont have as much detail of this family as my own.
Be interested to know what you come up with
    Best wishes Eric Barker

Erika, I have the christian names of Thomas, Henry, Richard, William  and John appearing in my Barker family.
