Margaret LYNCH - Death lookup please

Hi there
I'm looking for a possible death of Margaret LYNCH in Dundee sometime between 1838 - 1844.
Parents Hugh and Agnes/Nancy (nee Hendrie).
I've found the family in the 1841 census with Margaret's age given as 2 and again in the 1861 census with her age as 17.
She came out to Australia in the 1860's and all Oz records tally with the 1861 age. I'm thinking that maybe Hugh and Agnes had a Margaret around 1839 who died and then subsequently had another child they renamed after the 1st??
Could anyone have a go at trying to find a matching death record please?

Hi Annie,

Did you notice there was a Margaret Lynch in the 1851 census for Dundee aged 13, this would be about correct for your Margaret.

Thanks for looking.........I've searched the 1851 census pretty thoroughly and unfortunately haven't been able to match any records. The family seem to have disappeared around this time, resurface in the 1861 census and then disappear again!

Fraid nothing coming up on IGI and Scotland's People don't have death records pre 1855. The only death records kept prior to that were for the rent of the mortcloth.

I know this is most probably a silly question but do the Archives charge for search requests?
I think I'll visit their website and see if I can glean any info on possible fees from that.

Hi Annie

Most simple searches they will do free of charge. If complex tho they will suggest a visit or someopne going on your behalf. As much info as you can give them will make it easier for them to find and makes the search simpler.
