Have you got the Holes's in 1901 to see if emliy E and Lizzie are sisters or not?

Hi Liz -
just realised that my message was not clear -
Astral14 speculated that although Sidney was definitely the groom in 1918, he may not have been the one in 1911.
In 1911 the other bride along with Emily E Holes was Ethel Shortland - I was thinking that if Sidney didn't marry Emily - he would have married Ethel and therefore the search in deaths would be Ethel Randall.
This doesn't sound much clearer now but there you are- trying to cover all options.

  Emily E Randall q1 1917 Luton age 39 3b 603.

 So that looks like Emily's death.

 If you order the second cert it would have Sidney as a widow if it is the same one. As David said the law changed in 1907 so that widowers could marry sisters in law. I think it was later for widows to marry brother in laws.

  * mind you didn't stop Thomas Underwood(3xgreat granddad) in the 1840's..he got away with it. So did a great great granny.

 So they also had twins in July/Aug/Sept 1916...for Emily to die soon after there may have been complications.....Sidney then left with at least 3 small children is helped by wifes sister...who he then marries...
