Hiya Fizzy

The ref is in a previous post ... HO107/1542  fol 618 pg 9 ...she is Albetenar Jenkins ....
What do you make of the marriage being in 1852..but they are living as husband and wife in 1851 census?  ::)

 ;D

Hi Deb

I have other couples who married after children were born, and because the first two were named after the parents I figured that this couple had been together for quite some time before the 1851 census.

okay ...so then we need to look for an earlier marriage of 'Albertina' Roberts to an Edwin Jenkins.

We still have not found Albertina in 1841 or her father George , the sawyer.

1841 there is an Edwin Jenkins of the right age in Lyncombe and Widcombe and I am sure the answer lies there somewhere......

Hil - from the marriage cert, what is the name and occupation for edwins father ?

Hi Fizzy

I have looked for an Edwin Jenkins marriage   .... no luck for an earlier one! I know people got married after their children were born but Albertina and Edwin Jenkins had kids born almost 6 years before they were married.

What if Isabella was Albertina?  Okay okay I know .... I am being fanciful hee hee

Hello again

I think you have the right Edwin Jenkins in Lyncombe and Widcombe, both Edwin and his father David Jenkins were Chair Makers.
I have David and Sarah Jenkins in the 1841 census in Bath - HO107/ 931/ 12 f 8 pg 8, 1861 in Marylebone - RG9/ 103 f 84 pg 22 and 1871 in St Pancras - RG10/ 212 f 44 pg 22.
I haven't been able to spot them in 1851 census as yet... though there is a Sarah Jenkins, 'Visitor' in Shoreditch HO107/ 1533 pg 21 (haven't followed this up yet) and a David Jenkins [Chair Maker] in Birmingham HO107/ 2059 pg 23
I think Sarah died Dec qtr 1877 and David Dec qtr 1882, though I haven't found David on the 1881 census.

Thanks again
Hilary

Hi

I think the Sarah Jenkins you found in 1851 as a visitor may be this Sarah Jenkins in the 1881 census....she is a lodger, widow and formerley a tailoress. RG11/316 fol 15 pg 24
The Sarah Jenkins in the 1851 (HO107/1533 fol 116 pg 21) that you found was a Needlewoman.
I can't seem to find  a Sarah, tailoress/needlewoman in other census.

Your Sarah Jenkins has not listed an occupation and, as you mentioned, may have died in 1877.

Am I just confusing the issue ?  ::)

I am still looking for Albertina in 1841...  :-\    ???
