Pen-y-bank is it a farm or a place name ?
« on: Wednesday 23 May 07 23:23 BST (UK) »
Daniel Jones. On GG/Grandfathers marriage cert his residence at the time of his marriage was Pen-y-bank Llandefeilog, in the counties of Carmarthen & Glamorgan. Is this a farm or a place name? his father is listed as John Jones, farmer deceased. He married Ann Thomas from Yswborough ?(Writing is difficult to read) her father was Thomas Thomas deceased. The marriage was 24th Dec 1881. I would realy appreciate some help.

Hi pandora,
It looks like Pen y Bank was the name of the farm -just checked the 1871 (I gave you in another post0 where Daniel is at home with parents John/Hannah) and every house/farm on that page has it's own name -it is like that for 2 pages back and one forward.
The farms on Daniel's page are
Giley
Fynnawddon
Pen y bamk
Taynwigdol

(allowing for correct spelling!)

Hope this helps
