Richard Wilson 1803 Coppull
« on: Sunday 27 May 07 23:57 BST (UK) »
Hi

I wonder if anyone can advise me how to find the parents & siblings of Richard  Wilson born 1803 Coppull,

I have him in all census records & his marriage to Mary Aspinall in 1831 but would love to go back from there.

Any help would be much appreciated,

If anyone is connected please contact me

Thanks Judi

What part of Lancashire is Coppull ,L,Pool,Manchester,Blackburn ???. Found it on ask com but it doesn't say where it is. The reason i ask is because there a quiet a few Richard Wilson's on the I.G.I.in the right time span.Manchester and others.

Coppull is a village near Chorley. Information about the registers at Coppull (at this date it would be at what is now referred to as Coppull Parish, not St John the Divine in the middle of the village) can be found at the Lancashire On-line Parish Clerks project at www.lan-opc.org.uk

St Joseph's, Wrightington was open before 1803. I'll have a look this evening at the Lancs RO to see if he's there.

Just had a look on A2A. There is an order 27 Jul 1804 for maintenance of Richard, bastard son of John Berril of Blackburn, chapman, and Ann Wilson, singlewoman.

Seems a good bet for your man!

I'll have a look for that too.

www.familyhistoryonline.co.uk

has some information from RC registers of Wrightington Hall which might be worth a look.

A quick search for  WILSON baptisms shows Richard in 1803, Elizabeth in 1801 and James in 1820. It is pay per view to get the full entries but not too expensive.

(PS. Do you by any chance have a Peter Wilson in your tree, who married Hannah Stringfellow at St Mary Eccleston in 1818?)

Hi Skb

Thanks for the message I have been through the Family  History online  site already & found all the children of Richard  baptised there.

In the last 24 hours thanks to Andrew  we have discovered a breakthrough as to both parents,

Yet to confirm all the details.

As to Peter Wilson & Hannah Stringfellow,  I will send you a PM.

Hi,
Did anyone find out who Richard's parents were?
My ggggGM Dorothy Wilson was born in Coppull in 1765.
Her parents were Richard & Margaret who were still living there in the 1796 Coppull census. As they were the only Wilson family around at that time I wonder if Richard might be the son of one of Dorothy's brothers?
Thanks
John
