You are looking at the wrong name, it is the occupation of James Kerr that is required. Go to the right hand side of the certificate.

It could be Carder. Carder - Carded (combed - a skilled job) wool or cotton
That was a skilled job, in the weaving industry, done by people who had served
their time in their trade. As far as I know to be a carder a person needed to be
an apprentice for seven years.

Sorry about that KerryB, too keen to help. I have had a look on the enhanced pic and am afraid its no clear but having looked at the whole image, I think the nearest first letter is similar to the 'M' in the word married, not much help though I'm afraid

Having had a look at your enhanced version, I think I agree with you it is like the M in married, I hadn't seen that one before.  But as to the rest of the word...
