i am new here,sorry if this seems a dumb question
but can i get a copy of my mums  birth cert even though she has passed away

Hi Trish,

The answer is yes.

You can order it online here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Cost is £7 and you'll need the GRO reference for her birth (=registration district, year and quarter, volume number and page number). If you don't know about the GRO reference, then just tell us her name and when she was born and we'll try to find it for you.

Yes of course you can. If you have a date and place you can send to the register office in that place for a copy. It will cost £7.

In fact most of the certificates sent for are for people who have passed away.

sorry i dont know the GRO reference for her birth ,i have only just started my family tree and its all new and confussing
her name is
carole richardson  (nee  mincher)
she was born in 1940 wolverhampton area i think
